  • Historical Figure Represented: Hisa Katori (1839 - 1881 ) Thinker at the end of the Edo period. She was the sister of Yoshida Shoin and the wife of Katori Motohiko, the first governor of Gunma Prefecture. Deeply devoted to Buddhism, she was known for her strong will and was called a "fierce woman" for her resilience and dedication to supporting her family, even in the face of adversity.
  • Artisan/Designer: Eiju Shimizu, renowned for his expertise in crafting intricate Ito-jime dolls.
  • Unique Craftsmanship: The Ito-jime doll is a unique type of doll created using a technique devised by the late master doll maker Jusaburo Tsujimura.
  • Production Method/material:The head and torso are crafted using tenjiku fabric (a type of cotton fabric) filled with wood wool. The doll is dressed in garments made from authentic kimono fabric, ensuring a unique and traditional aesthetic.
  • Condition: Brand new, meticulously handcrafted as a one-of-a-kind piece.

Care Instructions

・These dolls are crafted using repurposed kimono fabric and should be handled with the same care as traditional kimonos.
・Avoid exposing the doll to humidity and ultraviolet rays whenever possible.
・For stains or dirt on the kimono fabric, we recommend gently dabbing the affected area with benzine and allowing it to dry.
・Benzine can also be used on the face and hands, which are made of chirimen fabric.
・If the doll sustains any damage, please contact us for assistance.
