【Furniture series】
Year of production: 2025
Material: Jindai cedar, paulownia wood, boxwood, cloth, lacquer
Seat: red
This bench is designed to capture the quiet strength and depth of the natural world.
The seat is crafted from a single thick slab of paulownia wood, offering a warm, organic presence and a sense of grounded elegance.
The backrest and legs are made from Jindai-sugi—a rare and extraordinary type of Japanese cedar that has been buried underground for centuries due to volcanic eruptions or tectonic activity.
Over time, the wood absorbs the minerals and ash from its environment, developing a unique deep ash-gray hue that speaks to its ancient origins.
The seat and backrest are finished with a layer of fabric and coated in red lacquer, adding warmth and contrast to the natural tones.
The Jindai-sugi surfaces are treated with a protective coating to preserve their character and durability.
This one-of-a-kind piece brings the quiet majesty of nature into any space.

We are happy to tailor the seat size, color, chair height, and other details to suit your preferences. Please note that due to the rarity of Jindai-sugi (ancient cedar), the chair may be crafted using alternative materials. We can also produce it using woods such as paulownia or walnut. Feel free to let us know your desired specifications.
Streaks on chair backs are not flaws. The seat is partially covered with fabric, a traditional technique that increases its strength.
